7/19/19 Project Update

7/19/2019

Secon and the DOT&PF will continue work on the mountainside of Egan Drive between the Ramada Inn and Willoughby Avenue, and begin working on the seaward side of Egan between Cycle Alaska and the Seawalk entrance. Current traffic revisions will remain in place.

  • Beginning this Saturday, July 20th right turns on-to outbound Egan from Willoughby Avenue will be closed. Whittier Street access will be open, allowing right turns on-to and off-of outbound Egan.
  • Traffic controls will be in place on Egan between Main Street and Glacier Avenue reducing traffic lanes to one lane in each direction.
  • Left turns will be restricted on-to or off-of Egan between Main Street and 10th Street to ensure the best possible flow of traffic through the work zone.
  • Pedestrian access will be maintained on the seaward side of Egan from Main Street to the Seawalk entrance; pedestrians will be detoured around the work zone through the Bill Overstreet Park and under the Douglas Bridge to access the protected crossing at 10th Street. Please follow posted pedestrian detour signs accordingly.
  • All businesses will have access to their establishments and are open regular hours during construction.

The safety of the traveling public and our workers is our main concern.
Please watch for flaggers, follow designated traffic revisions and posted detours.

For passengers trying to catch the outbound express bus please wait for the bus at the state museum stop on Whittier Street. All other existing service remains the same. For previous service changes visit www.juneaucapitaltransit.org. Your continued patience is appreciated.
