9/10/19 Project Update

9/10/2019

Beginning mid-week, Secon and the DOT&PF will shift the work zone between Whitter Street and the Merchant’s Wharf on the waterside of Egan Drive. This work will last approximately two weeks. The Whittier traffic signal will be operational during this time.
  • Initially the Whitter signal will be in “flashing mode” indicating motorists traveling inbound and outbound on Egan to use caution, and motorists on Whittier to stop and then proceed with caution through the intersection.
  • Once the Whittier signal is operational, the protected pedestrian crossing will be available to access the waterside of Egan.
  • Traffic controls will be in place on Egan between Whittier Street and Main Street reducing traffic lanes to one lane in each direction.
  • Left turns on-to and off-of Egan will be allowed at Whittier Street, Main Street, and Glacier Avenue.
  • Access to the Merchant’s Wharf will be reduced to the second entrance on inbound Egan nearest to the building.
  • Access to the Seadrome building will be reduced to the first entrance on inbound Egan.
  • Sidewalks on both sides of Egan will be open to pedestrians except in the designated work zone, Heat Street to the Merchant’s Wharf.
  • During this time, there will also be pedestrian closures on the waterside of the 10th Street and Douglas Bridge intersection and a pedestrian detour under the Douglas Bridge. Access to all businesses and the Whale Park will be maintained during construction.

The safety of the traveling public and our workers is our main concern.
Please follow designated traffic revisions, posted pedestrian routes, and never enter a work zone.
