The week of June 10th Secon and the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) will continue to work on the seaward side of Egan Drive.
The safety of the traveling public and our workers is our main concern.
Please watch for flaggers and follow designated traffic revisions.
On Monday, June 3, 2019 SECON will begin work with the DOT&PF on Egan Drive between Willoughby and Whittier Streets.
Standard work shifts will be 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Saturday.
Note that other restrictions will require additional work shifts. Please use caution when traveling in work zones.
Please call the SECON Public Information Coordinator at (907) 209-9842 or email at email@example.com with project questions or concerns. Regular office hours for the PIC are Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm.
On March 27, 2019, DOT&PF awarded the Egan Drive Main to 10th Street construction project to SECON for $14.3 million.
When completed, improvements to the area will include better pavement, improved pedestrian and bike facilities, widened highway where possible, repaired retaining walls and culverts, and more.
Construction is anticipated to start by mid-June 2019 and run for at least two construction seasons. Summer 2019 activities will focus on the stretch of Egan Drive between Willoughby and Whittier Streets.
During this section of construction, Egan Drive will be reduced to one lane in each direction in select work zones. Traffic control may be in place from Aurora Harbor to Main. No left turns will be allowed between Main Street and Douglas Bridge.
Commuters are encouraged to carpool or adjust their schedules to avoid peak traffic hours during construction.
As soon as the construction schedule is confirmed, SECON and DOT&PF will begin detailed public outreach about specific construction activities and expected impacts.
